I've been patient and persistent, and I finally caught my brown troutie. Three in fact!

It is thrilling to catch a fish after trying so hard to get everything right - the fly, the cast, the spot, the timing, the rhythm, the subtlety of the fly in the water. Those fish are pretty fickle. I love how a few hours on the River goes by in no time because I am concentrating so much on everything around me and being so observant. It's a good meditative exercise.

  1. I don't know that I have the patience for fishing, but you make it sound so fun and relaxing

    1. It's a lot easier to have patience when you actually catch some fish!
I think the most relaxing part about it is that it is a total distraction from everything else. You have to concentrate on so many things and really pay attention to the River and what's happening in the moment so there is just no time for the mind to wander or worry. And of course, when you catch a fish, which is really hard (!) it is so exhilarating and exciting and satisfying.

Hey, thank you!
